Living by the Lake
Summer is in full swing here in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, and that means longer days jam-packed with exciting things to do — and most importantly, the season we’re encouraged to spend the most time outside having a blast!

Perhaps the city’s most adored feature is the nearby Lake Ray Hubbard — an outdoor oasis that invites family fun and activities year-round.
Lakes and summer go hand-in-hand and we’re so lucky to have a one right in our backyard. If you’re new to living by the water, or excited about what’s to come when you move to Fate, here are some ways your family can get active and embrace lakeside life!
Marinas
There are two official Lake Ray Hubbard Marinas — Chandler’s Landing (Rockwall side) and Captain’s Cove (Garland side). At both marina locations, you are able to rent a slip to house your boat, schedule boat maintenance when necessary, utilize the fuel station and the ship store on-site. Both Chandler’s Landing and Captain’s Cove offer exclusive memberships to their Boat Clubs which include unlimited access to their collection of boats, seamless online reservations, and special access to other locations on the lake. If you’re a boat person, these marinas are definitely the place for you!
Boat Rentals
Along with Lake Ray Hubbard’s premier marinas and boat clubs, boat rentals are open to the public for guaranteed days of fun on the water. A number of boats are available to rent by scheduling basis and require the driver to be over 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license. From tubing and water-sports, to tanning and cruising on the open lake, boat rentals are always an exciting time for families to get together and make memories — just always remember that it is strongly advised to wear a life-jacket and practice caution while on the lake!
The Harbor
Visit The Harbor Rockwall Town Center for all things lakeside entertainment! The Harbor features a number of amazing restaurants, retail shops, and a movie theater, making this stop the area’s best dining and retail development. Take your family to this gorgeous town center for a weekend outing and check out the breezy lake views. The Harbor also hosts small events and entertainment throughout the year — imagine live music by the water, occasional 5K runs, or even ice skating during the holidays!
Trails & Parks
Even if you don’t like being in the water itself, there’s tons to do on the surrounding Lake Ray Hubbard property. A system of nature trails extends for miles around the lake with trail markers and specific routes that are great for family hiking or biking. A number of parks are dispersed throughout the area as well with pavilions, picnic areas, fishing spots and campsites too! No matter your interest, there’s plenty to explore when you live close to the lake.
Cabin & Property Rentals
Whether you’re on a staycation or your friends and family are headed to Dallas on a vacation, you can find beautiful waterfront cabins or property rentals all along Lake Ray Hubbard. Check out vacation rentals on Airbnb or Vrbo and check-in to a stay that’s full of outdoor adventure. Kayak or paddle board from your backyard if you want to get active, or kick-back and relax by a campfire if you want to chill out at night!
